Experience
A curated path—not a full résumé. Emphasis on leadership of complex software and systems work over three decades.
-
Systems & Technology Research
Systems architecture, software design, mentorship, and technical content of proposals across many projects. Currently leading system-team work on large analytics programs—building scalable, cost-aware processing of very large data sets.
- Scaled geospatial analysis with algorithms teams using Python and Apache Spark on AWS (EMR, EKS, and related services)—including jobs at multi-hundred-terabyte scale and indexing over multi-petabyte imagery collections.
- Built and operated long-running collection and analysis services; led performance work with large gains on core custody algorithms in Java.
- Helped define cloud direction at STR, including AWS GovCloud networking and architectures aimed at compliance requirements (e.g. DFARS/ITAR as applicable to the work).
-
BAE Systems
Line management and transition responsibility for moving projects and technologies into deployment. Led software teams (up to about fifteen people) and chaired a software tools committee.
-
Embrace
Responsible for hardware/software integration and for design and implementation of web applications.
-
Razorfish
Architecture and implementation of web applications; hired technical staff for the team.
-
Earlier product & systems work
Lead programmer and architect roles on interactive and graphics products (including LiveArt / Flying Saucer and Max Magic); product engineering at Infocom on 6502 assembly interpreters. Consulting included forensic software review (C, C++, LISP), expert reports, and courtroom testimony; technical leadership on creative and platform work such as LucasArts/National Geographic GTV Planetary Manager, SEGA Genesis audio tools, and the award-winning arcade-style game Repton.
